What is a certified translation?

A certified translation (also called a “sworn translation”) is an officially recognised form of translation produced by sworn translators and certified with a stamp and signature. The translator officially confirms that the translation is complete and accurate. This type of translation is required when submitting foreign documents to German authorities, courts or universities.

Why do authorities require certified translations?

In official institutions (public offices or courts), translations are only recognised if they are certified. Simply translating documents yourself is not enough — the translation must be prepared by a court-appointed sworn translator who confirms its accuracy with a stamp and signature. This is a legal requirement in Germany for all foreign-language documents submitted to authorities.

How much does a certified translation cost?

We charge a transparent fixed price for each certified translation. The cost depends on the document type, language combination, and number of pages. Prices start from €44.90 incl. How quickly can documents be translated?

Within 3–4 working days you will receive the certified translation as a PDF by email. Within 5–6 working days, the printed original arrives by post. For selected documents and language pairs, a 24-hour express option is available (EN↔DE, ES↔DE, IT↔DE). Orders placed on weekends are processed from the next working day.

Who is allowed to certify a translation?

Only sworn translators are used for the translation of official documents. They are state-certified by a German regional court (Landgericht) and specialised in specific languages or language combinations.
